What would you do at Santander?
The Cloud Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering Cloud-based solutions through secure and lean practices using built-for cloud strategies. This role is required to assist other teams, projects, and the business in the delivery and management of services on the Cloud through architecture and design.
The position will act as an ambassador for Cloud platforms and assist with the design and delivery of cloud-based services through continuous improvement and automation.
The role will support the Cloud Operations Team Leader ensuring that services on Cloud are designed reliably, and securely, whilst performing effectively and efficiently. Furthermore, the role is instrumental in continually improving the delivery of Cloud-based solutions and challenging the status-quo whilst reducing existing technical debt whilst continually improving the day-to-day operations of the Cloud.
Key accountabilities:
  • Be responsible for the design and implementation of Cloud-based services running on Cloud and ensuring that they meet the business objectives and adhere to service level agreements (SLA).
  • Work closely with Architecture and Projects to ensure that Cloud solutions are aligned with Santander’s strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with functional and technical team members to develop deployment strategies for existing and new Cloud solutions.
  • Review and identify ways to improve the performance and stability of services and applications running on the Cloud through continuous improvement and automation.
  • Provide visibility of performance, cost, and the security of the Cloud and services.
  • Drive continuous improvement, continuous delivery, and lean practices within the Cloud team.
  • Documenting standards and best practices for use across IT and the business.
  • Identifying emerging technology solutions that reduce cost, increase efficiencies, enhance capabilities, reduce risk and improve security
  • Ensure that all the Cloud technology directions create a positive customer experience.
What are we looking for?
  • +3 years of experience as a Cloud Architect.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate – Azure (MCSA).
  • ITIL, Cobit, LeanIT, IT control framework.
  • Risk Management framework.
  • Knowledge of key technology stacks, such as VMWare, Azure, AWS and Docker.
  • Has high-level knowledge of how the different Cloud services interact with each other.
  • Understanding of the unique requirements for enterprise and commercial customer use of private cloud, hybrid cloud, and public cloud.
  • Understanding of networking technologies and emerging trends in networking.
  • Significant knowledge of the legal issues pertaining to use of cloud-based services.
  • Self-directed, proactive, work on own initiative with a best practice approach.
  • Pragmatic problem solver.
  • Able to articulate technical issues in terms of business risk and opportunity
  • Strong team player prepared to work flexibly across a matrix organization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a strong professional ethic when dealing with customers.
  • Able to negotiate and resolve conflicting priorities and to influence senior executives.
  • Able to assimilate information and to disseminate effectively to customers and colleagues.
