We are looking for a Product Designer, who will work closely with the CEO and the founding engineers, to define and design the end to end user experience for a product that will change how kids consume extracurricular education online. As part of the founding team, you will play a critical role in shaping company culture, building our design foundation, and defining our product roadmap guided by deep customer empathy and aligned with business goals.
Responsibilities
- Building out the early product with the founding team, which will entail developing empathy for all our users - parents, kids and teachers - and partnering with the founders and the founding engineers to build out the early product
- Understanding all areas of design that need to be worked on in our company, and make decisions on what should be prioritised
- Defining and testing the initial user experience through rapid and continuous prototyping
- Creating the necessary interaction and visual design solutions to enable engineering to bring product to life
- Creating design guidelines for our products to ensure interface consistency across devices
- Proactively identifying optimisation opportunities on an on-going basis, through analysing screen-recordings, heat-maps and speaking with users
- Owning copywriting in our products — either yourself or working with a contractor you will manage
- Helping instill a design culture in the company as a whole — we want everyone to value and understand the role of design
Qualifications
- You believe in the value of a holistic education and the potential it has to better equip kids for challenges they will face in the future (Experience in ed tech or kids focused products a major plus!)
- You have 5+ years of relevant experience designing interfaces and experiences for web and mobile and have a portfolio of strong and relevant design projects, which were shipped
- You are proficient in Sketch, Figma, Invision or another design tool (Basic knowledge of front-end limitations (HTML, CSS, js, native mobile) a major plus)
- You have previous experience working in a tech startup and in a small, tight and fast past environment (e.g. a smaller company, or small team within a larger company)
- You care more about successful outcomes and happy customers than your design vision
- You are comfortable giving and receiving critical design feedback
- You have outstanding communication, design thought leadership, and presentation and storytelling skills
- You are self-motivated, goal oriented and effective.
- You have a high bar for integrity but a low ego
- You have an entrepreneurial mindset and would enjoy the highs, lows and the messy middle associated with building a great company
- You have the right to work in the EU
