Are you ready to Playwork™ with us? 
The Lingokids feature teams own specific areas of our product and are responsible for designing and developing new features that help us accomplish our mission. As a senior backend engineer, you will collaborate with the rest of the team (Product Owners, Designers, Mobile Engineers, Data Scientists, ...) to refine ideas into requirements and lead the backend side of their implementation. You will make common use of experimentation and use real-life data to help in the iterative improvement of our product.  You will prefer simple and pragmatic technical solutions to over complicated and hard to maintain ones.
You will work on a stack currently built around Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and Sidekiq. You will own your work from development to Production and ensure its quality, maintainability, and supportability.
The most challenging and exciting responsibilities for this role are

• Collaborating with your Product Owner and the rest of the feature team to refine ideas and turn them into viable product features.
• Designing and delivering new functionalities like the Parents Community that we launched recently.
• Improving the modularization of our backend APIs and code base to allow better independence between feature teams.
• Producing well crafted, tested and instrumented code that can easily be maintained and supported in Production.
• In general, keeping an eye on ways to improve our stack, our processes and our tools.

YOUR PROFILE

Are you our Senior Backend Developer?
The ideal teammate for us would be someone widely experienced in Ruby or a similar programming language, who agrees with us in how communication, empathy, inquisitiveness, and open mindedness are fundamental to be successful in the role.
Experience working closely with non-technical stakeholders to refine requirements and bring them to life would be a plus as we expect Senior Developers to be a driving force in the entire lifecycle of feature development.
It would also be great if you are experienced in automation, Security, CI/CD and cloud providers, as it would help you ramp up faster and add more value to the team.
English is a must. We are a multicultural team and we are providing a service in English so, we don't care about certificates but we expect you to be able to communicate fluently.
