Wallapop was founded in 2013. We are the marketplace for second-hand goods in Spain. With more than 8 million searches per day and over 15 million users across Spain with a catalog of several hundreds of millions of products, we exist to empower people to promote a more conscious and human way of consumption. We achieve this by bringing together the scale and simplicity of classifieds with the convenience and the reach of marketplace to create the world’s best unique goods trading platform.

Wallapop takes pride in having an open culture, where every opinion matters and everybody contributes in many different ways; through different internal cross-functional clubs aligning with people’s passions and interests.

We count 26 nationalities within our employee base and we operate in 2 languages: Spanish and English - this makes us pretty fun and special. While in most cases we are not attached to one language or the other, we encourage talent to embrace both languages and be able to operate outside their comfort zone. To ensure success we facilitate group and individual Spanish and English classes as part of our working day.

Our company values are:

We are One Team: Communicative, trusting and inclusive

We Dream & Deliver: Creative, impactful, pragmatic

We Aim for Simplicity: Intentional, uncomplicated, humble

We Learn & Grow: Constructive feedback, curiosity

We organize ourselves into topic teams and embrace agile practices.

The day to day involves:

  • Writing Java or Kotlin code, it depends on the team, the stack could change a little bit
  • Developing new features following DDD (tactical design and strategical design)
  • Tackling legacy parts
  • Testing all the things! Testing is a must, especially if you want to avoid those friendly reminders during the code review
The challenge

Some of the interesting things we are currently doing include finding new ways to handle with complexity or improve resiliency. We use many different AWS technologies (computer, storage ...) to archive our goals. As a Wallapop backend engineer, we have ownership of the team microservices, so we really embrace DevOps philosophy (optionally backend stuff is who are on duty). It’s difficult to explain our stack but the most important parts are:

  • Java & Kotlin
  • Spring & Axon Framework
  • RabbitMQ
  • MySql, DynamoDb, Redis & Memcached
  • Docker
  • ElasticSearch & Solr
  • AWS: S3, ECS, CloudWatch, RDS, CloudFormation, Lambdas & more

We are really friendly and expect any new members to join us to be respectful, appreciate diversity, and have a sense of humor. We are constantly learning new technologies, acquiring new skills, as things change fast at Wallapop. And Wallapop is aware of that fact, so every employee has a budget for courses and conferences.

Who you are

Problem solver and critical thinking

Quality driven, attention to detail and pragmatic ̣

Adaptable and eager to learn

A sense of humor: we like having fun doing what we love :)

Wallapop is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees
