About the role

As an Infra Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading and guiding the most important part of our engineering organization — our people.

This role involves high interaction with other teams and business areas, nurturing a culture of collaboration, communication, and coordination across different groups.

All these tasks deeply impact the company’s ability to be a profitable business, involving the processing of large volumes of data with precision and speed — a unique challenge from a purely engineering point of view.

We foster a culture of ownership, continuous integration, high observability, peer code reviews, pair programming, and active contribution to the open-source community.

Before moving into engineering management, you were likely a senior individual contributor with a comprehensive understanding of complex systems — experience that now helps you guide others, set priorities, and support career development.

You will:

Lead a team of diverse and talented SRE engineers with different levels of expertise

Drive technical projects to success and provide leadership in a fast-paced environment

Think critically about the long-term career development of team members

Conduct regular check-ins and 1-1s with team members

Communicate across cross-functional teams such as Product, Analytics, Fraud, and Security

Lead prioritization efforts and provide mentorship to others

Analyse and define roadmaps that create impact for product engineering teams

Deeply care about the happiness and growth of others

Report directly to (and receive support from) the Head of Engineering of your group

Our ideal candidate has:

Strong alignment with our principles 

Excellent communication skills in all circumstances

Hands-on people management and/or technical leadership experience

A passion for bringing great products into the world through collaboration and ingenuity

Extensive professional experience in backend software development, working on robust, complex systems serving high volumes of users

Appreciation for engineering best practices and a mindset that values quality over quantity

Bonus points:

Ability to handle ambiguous problems and make trade-offs without compromising quality

Experience working with remote and partially remote teams

Ability to understand, diagnose, and clearly articulate technical challenges and solutions

Experience with Kubernetes, Grafana, and AWS

Experience with distributed system communication, performance analysis, and optimization

Experience with GitLab maintenance and scalability

Experience managing different SRE verticals such as Runtime, Networking, Observability, and Persistence
